Freeway Fotos – Not So Easy
my wife hates freeway fotos. she says they are not safe to do, which is true, and she doesn’t see the point. of course, she does not read the blog, she doesn’t know cars, so what do you want? anyway, i was tracking a cool hot rod the other day, but could not get the shot aligned correctly. i then tried a rearview mirror shot, and got this one
yes sir, that’s a tan leather interior baby – love it?
the other day i played hooky to go to a 12:30 angels – red sox baseball game. on the way, i saw a nice nova i wanted a shot of
not bad, but could i get a better pic of it?
looks about the same as the last one. then i noticed, he was exiting the freeway. damn. so i tracked him, pulled up along side of him, and snapped this just as he was posing for me
and that’s how we do freeway fotos. happy saturday.

San Diego Comic Con
Since we are trying to keep this blog die-cast and or vehicle related I’m sticking to it (for the most part!) I’ll try not to bore you with all the vinyl, toy, movie, comic awesomeness. So here are just a couple of the awesome rides that graced the floors of the San Diego Convention Center for what we like to call NERDFEST… umm, I mean Comic Con 2010. First up, The Green Hornet.
Here we have one of the 1:1 scale light cycles from the upcoming Tron Legacy movie. I can’t even begin to tell you how bad I want to see this flick.
My 6 year old Jake went dressed as Master Chief from Halo. Here he met up with some of his fellow soldiers.
Marvel had a huge presence there, here is Thor’s hammer, aka Mjöllnir.
and here is a pic Captain America’s shield. We are doing die-cast vehicles for both of these movies!
and finally walking the floor we found Cobra Commander, when we asked to take a pic with him he replied, “Of coursssssssse, Cobra lovesssssss the children!”
Rock Crawler Makes It’s TV Debut!
ok, ok, let’s not all get too excited. you know how it is when you are starting off - you have to work some ensemble pieces before you get a shot to hit the big time. so it is with Rock Crawler, our new RC item from Maisto TECH.
we got little play on the fox NY affiliate, as they had a feature on summer toys on their good day ny show. the anchors got a little carried away with some super soaker stuff, and they don’t really get a chance to show the best feature of the rock climber, which is it’s ability to, um, climb rocks (we spent a TON in research to come up with the name, btw), but like we say, you gotta start somewhere.
see rock crawler at 2:22 of the clip below
and special thanks to laurie of TheBIGTOYBOOK.com for including us.
458 Challenge debuts at Maranello (Race and Play Not Too Far Behind?)
Maranello, July 14th 2010 – The 458 Challenge has made its world premiere debut in Maranello during the Annual Dealer Meeting, a traditional event that brings together the representatives of Ferrari’s international sales network.

The new berlinetta, which will flank the F430 Challenge in the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli in the 2011 season, is the fifth model used by Ferrari in its one-make championship which, next year, will be extended to include a new Asia-Pacific series. Coming just a few months after the Frankfurt Motor Show unveiling of the 458 Italia on which it is based, the 458 Challenge introduces a number of important modifications to adapt it for competition use.
The direct injection 4497 cc V8 remains strictly in production tune, with an output of 570 hp at 9,000 rpm. That said, modifications have been made to the gear ratios and calibration of its dual-clutch F1 gearbox to guarantee higher torque at lower revs. The 458 Challenge is also equipped with the E-Diff electronic differential already employed on the road-going version, a first for Ferrari’s track-only cars.

Ducati News
with the red bull u.s. grand prix set to start in just a couple of hours, what better time to feature some spy shots featuring what appears to be a new ducati motorcycle
first up is a “leaked” drawing…
my guess is there was not a lot of intrigue in getting this blueprint to the press.
and then we have the requisite “sighting”…
and one more shot, as the rider gets ready to go for a spin…
so of course, the question that comes to your mind – will your favorite die-cast company be replicating this bike, if in fact it is a real motorcycle after all? you damn well better believe we will!
all in all, another perfect day in bologna.
