Freeway Fotos: “I love it when a plan comes together!”
We received an e-mail yesterday from Mr. Starkey downstairs, his friend had sent him some pics of a supercharged Dodge Challenger he saw outside his office, no mention of who it belonged to, just a bitchin car he thought he’d share. Upon reviewing the photos, it seems pretty evident who the owner of this beast is. None other than UFC fighter and actor Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

Now you can see why the title of this blog post included an A-Team quote (I dig the A-Team van colors), it was also because El Señor RHB tried to highjack this post from me, but in the end, we had an octagon brawl and I came out victorious, him not so much. Til next time!
Maisto On The Road: Next Stop – SOUTH AFRICA!
maisto at the World Cup? pretty close, my friend, pretty close… we did have something going on in the same continent and the same country, at the same time, at least. that’s thanks to our excellent distributor of many years, jeffrey stein sales.
it seems that the folks at jeffrey stein recently co-sponsored the annual CAR magazine 24-hour virtual Le mans Challenge in Cape Town 2 weeks ago.
CAR magazine is south africa’s premiere motoring publication, and all of the participants wore jerseys like this:
which in reality, looked exactly like this:
man, i wish i knew someone, anyone, that makes cool looking shirts that we could use to promote our brands. if i only had a contact…
aside from that exposure, get a load of what else we got:
- logo on full page pre-promo page, CAR magazine, June
- logo on half-page pre-promo page, WIEL magazine, June
- logo on half-page pre-promo page, Leisure Wheels magazine, June
we also had mention in the article describing the event here:
take-on-car-in-24-hours-of-le-mans-2010-05-14
and also in a video here:
want a recap of the event – check it out here:
obox-annihilate-all-to-take-victory-2010-06-14
all in all, it looks like it was a great event, and something to take everyone’s mind off of the OTHER event going on in south africa… thanks to clint and jenny for the info.
Mercedes-Benz, Anyone, Part 2?
does the ? come after anyone, or 2? any comments? charles, you don’t count….
HK sent 1 photo to us after the fact, so here it is – the SL-65 AMG, in a beautiful black. of course, our catalog shows 1 color, silver, so it stands to reason the sample pic we get is black. anyway – who cares, she’s purrrrrty…
Mercedes-Benz, Anyone?
we are beginning to see the fruits of several years of labor on the licensing front as our new arrangement with mercedes-benz is kicking into gear. the result is a whole bevy of new 3-pointed star products in a wide range of scales. here is a photo of the new 1:18 sl63 amg, due out next month
and then we have a variation of the tool, a 1:18 sl550, in red
we showed you some photos of the new sls, and had a comment about availability of other colors. the answer is yes, 3 colors to start. here are some catalog photos for your enjoyment
Maisto On The Road: Next Stop, Espana!
we have some great distributors throughout the world, and clearly one of our top ones is located in spain, tavi toys. the cabos’ take great care with our brands, as is evident by the displays of our goods found in the carrefour stores – check these tasty shots out:
that is some great merchandising, especially with the ferrari race and play products. tavi toys has something like 51% of all die-cast market share locked up between maisto and bburago. nice job, guys. que bueno!

Here are some new 1:37th scale Nissan 370z’s adorned with some of your favorite Major League Baseball teams. These are brought to you by Maisto and Top Dog Collectibles.

Hot Rods!
Seeing as how Summer is officially here, it seems like there is an event every weekend. Just a week ago was Ink-N-Iron, this past weekend was the L.A. Roadster Show, so many great hot rod and kustom shows. The guys in CAPD are a very diverse group, but we all have one thing in common, WE LOVE CARS! Particularly, cars from the past! (For me, it’s Hot Rods!) But, whether it’s hot rods, muscle cars, gassers, lead sleds, vintage drag cars, low riders, Cadillacs, it doesn’t matter, we love ‘em all! Here are a couple photos I took back in January of 2009 and never posted of some hot rods Maisto has produced. If you enjoy these, I will post more!
In the center of this pic is a custom convertible 29 Ford I chopped up for fun.

This little guy was from the Gas Caps/Gassers collection. A tooned out version of a ’49 Merc! Still one of my fav’s!

and here is a new Freeway Foto I snapped of a bad ass Hot Rod Rig on my way home the other day. It’s too bad I couldn’t get a better pic, but I think you can see how rad this thing was!
