website update: Links/ Friends and Partners
just to let you all know we updated our friends and partners portion of the website, which can be found in the links tab. we tell you this, because we want you all to visit every one of our friends and partners many, many, many times. and keep checking back, as we will add more links all the time.
and we especially want you to visit the lamborghini store, which is brand new and just live as of today. click below to head over and check out some real italian style.
we bring you news about the on-line Lamborghini Store for 2 reasons:
1. our friend in sant’ agata, elisa, asked us to, and we do just about anything she asks.
2. when the boys in the design room fall short on what to get their boss for the holidays, they now know his favorite on-line shop (and i don’t mean all the maisto and bburago die-cast they offer – although that is pretty cool.)
enjoy!
No Pictures Please!!!
Yesterday we had to arrange a little photo shoot of a playset for Bburago, and yes we had to bring in the big guns! Not The Jonas Brothers, Not Brad Pitt, George Clooney, or Leonardo… We brought in Jake and Michael. Yes little Castro, and little Chu, son of super salesman Robert Chu! The game was set and the task was simple, get some good photos to use on a package. Jake was ready like a week ago, reminding me every day, are we going to work tomorrow dad? when Dad? when are we going to work? Well yesterday was the day and he was so excited! We both came in with our backpacks and started the work day!
He was having a blast! pulling toys out, grabbing cars off of desks, nerf guns, you name it! Here he is playing with some of the latest Street Troopers!
So after he played a while, had lunch, it was time to go to work! Wait this isn’t work? Is it? Here’s some of the CAPD setting up the shoot. Making sure the pics come out nice!
Here’s Michael and Jacob (the talent)! They had never met each other before, but hit it off instantly, they did just what any kids would do…they played! Completely ignoring the photoshoot set up and boring adults!
Here’s a shot behind the scenes, Dimex filming for the DD and our youtube page. Also R2B2 and Charles in the background.
These little guys had the best time! Here’s a view from above.
And that was it! The boys did great, played the whole time, didn’t complain, and got hooked up with some cool toys and Maisto swag!!! I bet RHB wishes the design team was that easy to deal with! Yet another reason why I Love My Job!
Til’ Next Time!
Maisto Around The World: Back in the Czech Republic
our man pavel gets the idea of the DD – take some photos, send em in, and you are published. simple. here are some shots of a tesco store in prague – look at the love for us -
thanks again pavel. great job.
if you see this in your rearview mirror – pull over FAST!
the kind folks at lamborghini just donated their newest production ride – a gallardo lp560-4, to the head of the italian state police for use on the roadways of italy. the press release states the purpose is to “continue accident and crime prevention to sustain security on the italian roads.” uh, ok, but i’m telling you, if i am driving in italy and i see this i am stopping and gawking and i don’t care who runs into me. actually, i am probably going to intentionally do something illegal just so i can check it out.
rome already has a 1st gen gallardo polizia version on the road, already clocking nearly 62,000 miles. a second gallardo has been in service in bologna since 2005.
maisto actually had the 1st gen up until last year in 1/18 scale
the electronics in the real car are definitely from some futuristic world. upon spotting a suspicious driver, a proof video data system is activated. using gps, current speed, and vehicle location, the computer will accurately determine the speed of the pursued vehicle. thus, the “but officer, I was only going 63 mph” is pretty much rendered useless.
the Lamborghini is used for urgent medical transportation too, as the luggage compartment is equipped with a refrigeration system for safe transportation of donor organs. or, in extreme circumstances, a 24 pack of moretti. dude, the kidney is shot, just pop me another cold one.

Maisto On The Road: Next Stop – Czech Republic
last year we received some photos and a short recap from our friend Pavel – distributor extraordinaire in the czech republic. pavel is always feeding us cool stuff he is doing over there as he promotes maisto and our twin sistah from a different mother, bburago. when he sent last years kart race information, it really got us going on the idea of a blog, cuz it’s cool, cuz we think you it’s the kind of thing you would like to see, and cuz he just PLASTERS maisto and bburago all over everything. earlier in the year we had shown you some pro kart racing – this is more on the younger side of the competition pendulum:
one set of the boys group winners:
and one set of the girls group winners:
is it just me, or does that girl in pink look pretty stoked to be there? congrats to all the champs, runner-ups, and other participants. and of course, our thanks to pavel for making it all happen.
Ring of Fire!!!
So my buddy R2B2 texts me this morning…”Hey guys, we had to evac our home last night, woke up to someone banging on my door screaming “Fire!”, looked out my bedroom window and saw a great wall of fire! Literally yards away from my backyard wall. I’ll send pics soon, we’re barely getting back home now and are on standby in case the fire comes back”……yadda yadda….expletives…yadda. I thought to myself, this guy, he’ll do anything to get out of a meeting with the bosses… you know? No seriously, I was like whoa! That’s craziness. I hope him and the family are OK.
It was then that I realized, I was barely going to bed last night at 2am cause I was trying to prepare for this meeting today, and he was getting rudely awakened? Hmmm. What’s up with that? Anyhoo I’m glad R2B2 and the fam made it home safely and everything was still there when they got back. And after seeing these photos, which tell quite a story, I’m amazed that nothing was damaged. My hats off to those Firemen that kept the flames at a distance!!! You Guys Rock!
and it looks like the fire brought out a nice little visitor! hey friend…I’m just gonna pet you, I’m not trying to harm you little buddy, just gonna take a….OUCH!!!!
Dave Deal
Dave Deal passed away on Tuesday. If you don’t recall him by name, you probably know his work. He was perhaps most famous for his Deal’s Wheels caricature model car kits made by Revell in the early ’70s and reissued many times since. He drew the Viking character on the ArmorAll bottles. If you were a sports car fan a few decades ago you might remember his cartoons in MG Mitten accessory ads in the magazines. More recently, he was instrumental in character development and showing the animators how to express emotions in the vehicles appearing in the Cars movie. He also did illustrations for toy companies. Here’s one he made for a Maisto (when it went by the name of M.C. Toys) package about fifteen years ago. I met him at Zee Toys in the 1980s when he was working on a variety of freelance projects there. He will be missed.
greek toy show, anyone?
we have resisted so far – 120 posts or so and we have managed to stay away from posting specifically about our twin sister from a different mother bburago. but this was too cool, and there was no maisto slant on it what-so-ever, and cuz bburago does not have a blog, we just had to show you this. a toy show in greece, no big deal to start. i mean, i would be unable to explain those that are cruising down the escalator, but i am just a blogger, no more…
i usually opt for black silks when i attend a show, but i usually don’t go to shows in greece, and you know what they say. but that is not the point of the story.
looks like a nicely attended affair, don’t you think?
not sure why they spell bburago with one b, but hey, who am i…
but then, the object of our affection….
i am a total pushover for this stuff. wrap your car in our logos and it will be on the blog – no question about it. here is another beauty shot…
much thanks to the folks that put the show on, and for the use of this beautiful Porsche – we hope we see it again soon
